Danish layers

March 23rd, 2011 § 10 comments

If you have ever visited Copenhagen, or are crazy lucky enough to live here – you know it can get pretty damn cold.  Throw in a bike commute and weather conditions that change on a dime, and you’ve got pretty tough conditions to dress for, let alone dress up for.

Enter: layers.  Here is my step by step guide to layering in Copenhagen in March:

1. Throw on your favorite jersey dress.  Let’s be honest, it should probably be black.  Don’t worry if it initially seems too sultry for daywear – cause we’re gonna cover that baby right up.

2. Add an enormous sweater – bonus points if it’s metallic – and dark shades, because hey, the sun just might appear and you’ll want to be ready!

Sweater – H&M, Necklace – Asos Collection, Sunnies – Zara

3. Boots, boots, boots.  Tall, short, flat, heeled – you name it.  No matter what, I would highly suggest that you invest in ones that you love – cause you’ll probably wear them almost exclusively from October – April.

Boots – Acne Pistol

4. Finally throw on a classic, over-sized wool coat (and if you’re smart, you’ll also add a thick scarf, leather gloves, and a turband for good measure).

Coat – H&M, Earrings – Asos Collection
