Let’s do it, let’s DIY

I think my hands and my closet are feeling empty.

No matter how many pies I bake or pretty new things I buy, nothing quite turns my day around like creating something new with my own hands that will truly last.

Recently I have really been itching to create, create, create, so I thought I would share my current inspiration project board with all of you:

Inspiration, clockwise from top right: adding zippers to an old wool coat – brilliant!, simple shift dresses in sheer fabrics, DIY tie dye shift dresses (after all I have RIT dye on the way…), a simple bright stripe on an otherwise plain clutch, and I am still love, love, loving beaded collars (I think I will raid a thrift store soon so I can cut out collars to bedazzle and then wear under, well, everything…).

Is there anything you’re wanting to create these days luvs?

I want to find ways to make vintage dresses fresh and fabulous! Any ideas?

Ohhh, what a wonderful idea! There are so many ways to update old dresses, especially depending on their shape, size, fabric, etc. You can dye them, alter their shape to fit you better, and, my new favorite, add beads to them!!

Have you seen the blog called New Dress a Day? With $365 and 365 days, Marisa alters and modernizes 365 thrifted dresses, skirts, and more! It’s absolutely amazing what she accomplishes in one year, especially after starting with some very uuuugly old dresses 🙂

Let me know what you come up with!!!
