Faux real

I feel as though every time I visit Forever21’s webshop, I find a new Miu Miu look-a-like.

First it was the patterned Mary Janes, then the cut-out sandals, and this week, it’s the nude patent platform loafers –

Top heels – Forever 21, $25.80, Bottom heels – Miu Miu, $690.00

I have to say that while I believe that designers should not be ‘knocked off’ in such a blatant manner, the staggering price difference between these shoes makes it difficult not to consider the look-a-likes. I won’t be buying these – but I’ve bought look-a-likes before and I’ll likely do it again.

I can’t help but wonder – will there ever be a way for designers to keep ownership of their designs, without completely excluding 90% of shoppers from owning the latest styles?

What do you think? I’m very curious!
