{Dukan} Chocolate Truffles

August 5th, 2011 § 20 comments

After a few months in the cruise phase of the Dukan diet (too many factors made the strict protein/vegetable phase nearly impossible) I am back to the initial diet full force, and with great results so far.

The Dukan diet is not an easy adventure to undertake, but after losing nearly 30 lbs since March, I can attest that the hard work is rewarded two fold.

Since the future reward isn’t always enough to keep away the chocolate cravings however, luckily you can make Dukan approved truffles to enjoy when that late night urge kicks in…

Dukan Chocolate Truffles

Adapted from the Dukan Recipe Book ~ Makes approx. 8 truffles

  • 4 tsp of low fat cocoa powder, and extra to roll the truffles in
  • 1 tbsp of fat free fromage frais (or thick yogurt)
  • 5 tbsp of powdered skim milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 5 drops of vanilla flavoring
  • 3 tsp of sweetener (or to taste)*

Mix everything together. Add extra powdered skim milk if necessary until the paste reaches a firm consistency. Put aside in the fridge for a few hours until mixture is hard enough to scoop and roll into small balls. Before serving, roll the balls in cocoa powder.

*When sweetener is concerned, as well as nearly any Dukan recipe, I always taste, taste, taste.  Low-fat recipes are hard to calculate precisely, and in order to enjoy your dessert once it’s finished, you should be sure you enjoy the batter!  So please – take a spoon and taste, then adjust flavors and ingredients (slightly) at your desire.

Bon appetite luvs – you look thinner already!

I made these last night and they were delicious! Thanks so much for sharing. I was on the verge of running out to the shop for a mars bar but thankfully tried these instead. I have just made them again, but this time put some of the Dukan chocolate flavouring in too. Almost as good as the real thing!

I am so thrilled to hear that Laura! I felt the same way when I discovered these… a perfect way to indulge without the guilt! 🙂

I’ll definitely try with chocolate flavoring – I now have the butter flavoring too, so I might try a new version…

Was wondering if these taste at all eggy? am really cautious always when using raw egg yolks. They look like the real thing though.

    • Alexandra says:

      Hi Claudia!

Honestly, I don’t notice the egg yolks at all. I just found that I needed to be careful how much milk powder I added… you may be tempted to add extra, and I think it kind of kills the taste! Raw egg yolks may be a risk, but as long as you use pasteurized or pasteurize them yourself, you should be absolutely fine! Plus Dukan has a million recipes with raw egg, so you kind of have to get comfortable with it. I’ve never ever experienced a problem with raw egg myself!

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy!

They look great! Is it possible to substitute the milk powder for something else?

  • Oh yum, I made them with coconut flavouring and added a little sugar fat free drinking chocolate

  • Debbie Dixon says:

Can you PLEASE tell people that there are 4 tolerated items in that amount of cocoa? Means 2-4 days worth!

  • Oh WOW I have to try these 🙂

  • alysonsblog says:

I made them with a sugarfree hazelnut syrup and it was supreme

This is amazing! Thank you so much for posting this! I successfully lost 17 lbs on Dukan last year and kept it off… until a month ago when I gained 10 back. I’m back on track but I’ve been dying for chocolate.. and this is just perfect!

Is this ok to eat on pp phase?

Great recipe!! I made these yesterday with different coatings, cocoa, cinnamon and liquorice powder. Next time, I’ll try substituting the powdered skim milk with chocolate or vanilla flavoured protein powder to make them more Dukan-friendly. I think rum flavouring would be great too 🙂

I tried these, and they taste wonderful, but they never set up in the fridge. Just stayed runny? Any ideas?

  • […] pinterest or google search will find you the recipe, I used this one from a great Dukan blog called She Is Red. (I believe the recipe was originally from the Dukan […]

Just made these and they are wonderful. Used a little peppermint to make them feel like after dinner mints. Thank you, you’ve made my Dukan day! 🙂

  • Sandra says:

omg, they are amazing. I didn’t even have time to roll them in the cocoa powder, I couln’t stop eating. I didn’t have powdered skim milk so I took chocolate protein powder (You only need about 2 -3 tbsp of it, depending on the quality of it).
I also put some of it on leftover microwave dukan bread, and It tasted amazing. I think you can also freeze it, which makes it even more amazing for summer. Thx for the recipe 🙂
