After seeing this Stella McCartney gold collar last year, I’ve been pretty obsessed with finding something similar. I haven’t had much luck, so of course I turned to DIY!
To build this necklace, I used the same thin copper sheets that I used to make my gold belt last week. I cut the metal into triangle collar shapes with scissors, and hammered down the edges so that they wouldn’t be sharp to touch. I then made two holes in each triangle by hammering a thin nail through the metal, and filing down the holes to keep them smooth.
Finally, I attached the triangles to one another with gold chain and jump rings. I used two jump rings in the front attached to one another and on one each outer corner to attach to the chain. This step took time and patience – but was well worth the effort!
I’m so pleased with the result, and I want to wear my new gold collar over every blouse I own!! What do you think loves? Please feel free to ask if you have any specific questions about the process. {I’m no jeweler, but this was fun and pretty straightforward!}
