An Outsider {Inside NYFW}

February 17th, 2012 § 5 comments

There are many reasons why I’m a fashion outsider.

To name a few: my blog is only 11 months old, I don’t work for a fashion media company or designer, I live in Oregon {of all places}, I’ve never been to NY Fashion Week before this year, I can’t pronounce Proenza Schouler correctly {??}, and most of the clothes in my closet cost less than $50.  That being said, I bought a ticket to JFK, sent an RSVP to every event I could find, printed fancy business cards, put on high heels and lived my dream. Maybe by the time September arrives, I’ll be personally invited to fashion shows and events {here’s hoping!} but for now, I had a pretty damn good time being an outsider {on the inside}.  Here’s a peek at the day I spent in and around Lincoln Center:

{I began the day at The Daily’s Style Sessions party on the Empire Hotel rooftop}

{Cindy Crawford’s new skin care line – I took home the serum and love it!}

{The new line of Essie nailpolish was presented, along with free manicures!}

{Next it was off to the Mercedes-Benz tents at Lincoln Center}

{I watched Yantan Tokyo’s show on the big screen in the main tent}

{And met these fantastic gals. We drank Diet Pepsi and laughed a ton!}

{Then my new friend Philip, who I met at Bloggers Night Out, took me to the Tibi fashion show with him {!!}.  Making new friends is always a good idea}

{I spy Hanneli (in stripes), Elin Kling, and Taylor Tomasi Hill in the front row}

After the Tibi show, Philip and I attended another party and heard about Whitney Houston’s passing in front of an Occupy Wall Street rally {heartbreak}.  Then my best friend Josh and I had mexican food for dinner at Blockheads {along with margaritas with upside down Corona in them!}, sang karaoke terribly, drank a cocktail called a “Hot Tranny Mess”, made more new friends, and generally had a goooood time.

Best day ever?  Pretty much.
