{Chalk} to Me

May 15th, 2012 § 6 comments

At a recent yard sale, I felt like I’d struck gold when I found a set of six beautiful glasses {the ones seen here}.  But in the next room, things just got better – I found a vintage chalkboard, complete with an eraser that looked straight out of 1962.  Here’s how it looked initially:

A little worse for wear, and not exactly the most flattering shade of brown wood.  So, I taped off the chalkboard from it’s frame – like so:

And spray painted the entire frame with a few coats of white paint.  The result was refreshing and much more modern…

And perfect for list-making and doodling!

I love it!!  Talk about an easy-peasy DIY, am I right?!

What do you think of chalkboards loves? Do you like them or have them in your own home?  I’m personally a huge fan {you can catch a glimpse of my old chalkboard wall in Copenhagen here}!

I bought a chalk board to hang in the kitchen. I left a huge hole in my wall because I tried to do it with a nail that was too big. Anyways, totally traumatic and now have a picture hanging over the hole….and the chalk board leaning against the wall next to my desk. Not as good though because it needs to be at eye level to be useful as a to do list.

Your chalk board looks great! I love having a rummage for old stuff and I particularly love stuff from 60’s /70’s . xx

That turned out great sweetie! Nice work! Yup, I’m a sucker for chalkboards as well. One of the rooms in my house has a chalkboard wall that we created using chalkboard paint. 🙂

I love this project. First, I’m a big fan of objects from earlier times and, second, your rejuvenation is easy and smart. Painting it white was an inspired choice.

I admire how regularly you’re posting. That takes effort and commitment.
