This is one of the simplest, most incredible dishes ever. Truly. This is not an overstatement – this is fact.

Toasted almonds, dried cranberries, honey and brown sugar atop warm, melt-in-your-mouth brie cheese.

How could it go wrong? Your crackers will be thrilled. So will your guests.

Because who said the “Wow” factor had to take up lots of time? This weekend, I say cheers to simplicity!!!

And cheers to you and yours, wherever you are! Happy Memorial Day weekend loves – I hope you enjoy a few wonderful days off with family, friends, and lots of brie!!
Candied Brie Cheese Appetizer
- Brie cheese {we used a small wheel, approx. 15 oz.}
- 1/3 cup sliced toasted almonds
- 1/3 cup craisins
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp water
- Honey, optional
In a small saucepan, mix the brown sugar and water over low heat until the sugar begins to dissolve. Once the mixture is warmed and has a sauce-like consistency, add the craisins and toasted almonds* and stir to coat them completely in the sugar sauce. Place the brie on a microwave safe dish and top with the craisin-almond-sugar mixture. Just before serving, microwave for approx. 1 minute {depending on your microwave} until brie is warm and begins to soften. Serve immediately with crackers or sliced baguette. For an even sweeter presentation, drizzle honey so it drips down the sides of the brie wheel.
*To toast almonds, spread on a baking pan and bake for 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, shaking the pan every so often to brown them evenly. Toasted almonds can be made ahead and stored in the cupboard just like raw almonds.
Bon appetite! xxx
