For the love of a Scarf

November 26th, 2012 § 4 comments

Did you know that in Cambodia, a child cannot attend school without a school uniform? Because of this, countless Cambodian families cannot afford the basic yet essential set of clothing to put their children in school.

When Roni Sivan learned this on her travels through Cambodia, she didn’t just continue on her way.  Instead: Krama Wheel scarves were born.

For every single scarf sold: one weaver is paid fairly, treated respectfully, and better able to support her family; one local seamstress is paid to sew a school uniform; one child gets a school uniform so he or she can attend school.

These beautiful scarves give children access to education while also empowering artisans to make a living. Oh, and side note: you get to look really cool!

I was recently introduced to Roni by a dear friend, and we’ve been emailing ever since {she and Krama Wheel’s US headquarters are located in Texas}.

She was kind enough to send me the scarf of my choice, so my brother Coco and I took a moment over the Thanksgiving weekend to style and shoot the beautiful Blue Tola scarf.

I paired the Tola with a polka dot dress from H&M, a vintage gold belt and a vintage Pendleton coat. And red lips and nails, of course!

Later on, Coco wore the Tola with a matching windbreaker and jeans {and a beard!}, and tied it in such a cool fashion!

All this week, Krama Wheel is giving you the chance to get one of their beautiful scarves for yourself {and a friend!} with their Five Days of Good Krama event!

Buy any scarf from Krama Wheel today through Friday November 30, and you’ll receive free shipping as well as be entered into a drawing for the chance to win another scarf for a friend!  {Then, if you win, you won’t have to fight over the scarf like Coco and I have!! ;)}

Take a look at Krama Wheel’s collection today and support an incredible cause while getting your holiday shopping done early.

Let the happiest of holiday seasons commence!!

Note: This is not a sponsored post. The Tola scarf styled above was sent to me care of Krama Wheel, but I am endorsing them today because of the amazing work they are doing and their beautiful products! xx
