Succulent Gem

Making our tiny New York studio apartment a home has been an uphill battle – to say the least.  I’ve faced just about every single apartment-related catastrophe possible in the past five months since moving in {knock on wood}: I’ve been scammed into overpaying rent by nearly $400 a month, had a roommate drop out of signing a lease just hours after I fronted a cash deposit, and had to exterminate the one thing every New Yorker fears more than anything {don’t make me say their name!}.

Guys: it’s been a hell of a ride.

That being said, I’m now settled into my cozy apartment in the heart of Manhattan with my best friend — so things are pretty fantastic. Now that all the forementioned drama is behind us, we’re focusing on making our apartment a home – one homecooked meal or DIY project at a time.

Which brings me to my point {finally}: this hanging succulent mini-garden.

I do hope the photos above explain my DIY process clearly enough…

1. Buy a beautiful terrarium. {Like mine – or this or any of these!}
2. Buy succulent plants from your local flower market.
3. Re-plant succulents in planter.
4. Display!

The end!

I CANNOT thank you all enough for your love and patience with me as the blog has slowed in posts. I’m so excited about what’s happening around me, and I can’t wait to share it – so please stay tuned. I may be writing this post from my roommate’s computer because mine hasn’t turned on in weeks {again – it’s been a hell of a ride!} but I am writing this post! And that’s what counts, right??

Lots and lots of love from NYC, Alex
