{Fashion Forward} Halloween Costumes

October 26th, 2013 § 0 comments

I’m all about looking great on Halloween. I don’t want to be bloody or ugly or quirky or crazy or slutty. I want to be stunning.  Am I alone in this? I mean – who wants to look slutty on Halloween when you can go as a total knockout?  Not. me.

For those of you out there with similar sentiments, I’ve rounded up three outfits you can make with things lying around at home and just a few new additions to your wardrobe that will be useful long after November 1 rolls around.  After all, that new little black dress is totally justified if you can wear it on Halloween and to this years’ Christmas party, right?!

{The Style Icon} Daisy in the Great Gatsby

Carey Mulligan looked amazing in the remake of The Great Gatsby, and I think it would be so fun to emulate her look this Halloween. Take a favorite dress {something in the slinky, long, sexy category} and add fur, lots of jewels, and an incredible headpiece {this would be fun to DIY!}.  Give your hair and face a 20’s make-over and then sip champagne wistfully all evening while people check out your amazing outfit.

{The Royal} Pregnant Kate

I think honoring Kate and our new British heir this Halloween would be perfectly modern and fun.  To be Kate pre-George Alexander: Get a glam blowout, pick your favorite pastel separates, add nude heels, pearls and tape a balloon at your belly!  {Here are even more inspirational photos of her adorable pregnancy style}.  Add a fascination or the most fashionably crazy hat you can find to complete the look!  If this costume isn’t risque {or fashion-forward} enough for you, consider going as the other end of the 2013 pregnancy style spectrum! 😉

{The Diva} Adele

Everyone thought I was Adele when I wore this outfit in 2011, and to this day I want to go as her on purpose. This is the perfect costume for any curvy gal out there!  Wear a gorgeous LBD and add big, sparkly vintage earrings and hot black heels.  Give yourself a heavy cat-eye, red lips, and pouf your hair up {close to God!}. Bonus points if you add long, flashy nails.  Rumor has it you’re 24 and more successful than just about everyone… so drinks are probably on you girl!

Looking for more? Check out last year’s fashion inspired costume ideas too!

What will YOU go as this year? If you want to show me, I’ll be at every gay bar in New York City. See you there?!

XOXO loves
