Home Away From Home

I’m a lucky lady this week, being spoiled like crazy in my Oregon hometown. Mornings are spent getting up early to drink coffee and go hiking with my parents, afternoons are spent lunching with family and friends, and evenings are spent relaxing at home and meeting the new beautiful baby next door.  Today my mom and I bought tickets to three shows at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, so I’m looking forward to lots of theater the rest of the week {starting with The Tempest tomorrow}.

{Kindness Project} alice + olivia

On Wednesday evening, I had the opportunity to attend an amazing event held by alice + olivia.  Brand founder Stacey Bendet and artist David Choe collaborated to create dress adorned with Choe’s “A Woman and a Monkey” painting.  The piece has become the global symbol of alice + olivia’s “Kindness Project” – an effort to spread a message of love, kindness and positivity.  It was a stunning gown, and made a perfect centerpiece for the dance floor:

New York City {One Heck of a Year}

October 25th, 2013 § 3 comments § permalink

Twenty-Five Candles

October 21st, 2013 § 4 comments § permalink

A few weeks ago, I passed a big milestone… the big two-five.  It wasn’t the easiest of birthdays to approach honestly – in fact, I think it was the first year of my life that I wasn’t excited for October 1st to roll around.  So many things haven’t gone my way in the past year, and I think I got caught up in the feeling that I hadn’t accomplished enough to be entering my second quarter-century.

But then October 1st came. I spent the day in my new favorite city, surrounded by my New York friends and family who I love more than I can explain. I felt cherished, loved, and happier than I have in a long time. I can’t even express how grateful I am to each and every person who made turning 25 one of the best experiences of my life – each person who completely turned around my little pity party in a matter of moments and reminded me what’s really important.

And guys… can we talk about this cake?!

Exploring {With the New York Pass}

September 5th, 2013 § 2 comments § permalink

In the end of July, just before my sister-from-another-mister Mette flew home to Denmark, we spent a day exploring New York City with the amazing New York Pass.  This pass allows you into more than 80 attractions around NYC at no extra cost, so we planned a busy, fun day. Here’s a peek at our adventures…

We met at the Empire State Building, where we took the elevator to the 86th floor and wondered how many marriage proposals occur there each day.  We also took a peek {above} at the New York skyline from a bird’s eye view {wink wink}. » Read the rest of this entry «
