Uncommon Goods {Holiday Giveaway!}

December 18th, 2013 § 1 comment § permalink

Since moving into my little New York City apartment with Josh this summer, I’ve had an amazing time sourcing items to decorate our tiny space. I love br0wsing flea markets, boutiques, and even the street {!} to find unique, affordable items to make our little basement a home.  So when I discovered Uncommon Goods — an online company based right here in New York City with hundreds of beautiful, unique items to choose from — let’s just say I was hooked.

In line with the holiday season of giving, the team over at Uncommon Goods was wonderful enough to send me Bucky Jr. {the handsome cardboard deer you see above} as a gift.  But the gift giving doesn’t stop there! Uncommon Goods is also giving away a $50 giftcard for one of YOU to spend as you wish this Christmas {whether on yourself, or on your loved ones — don’t worry, we won’t tell either way!}.

Wooden Crate Shelf {DIY}

November 27th, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

The other day on the way home from work, I found a wooden crate by the curb outside my local grocery store. You would have thought I found a $100 bill on the ground, I was that excited.  Back in Copenhagen, I used to dream of finding a wooden crate to use as a bike basket — but since I don’t have a bike here in NYC, I had to find another use for it.  I used the yellow paint left over from this project to brighten up the dirty wood, and then added it to a side table in our apartment to create a mini vanity table for all my favorite things.

Zara Home {Decor Crush}

November 1st, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

I vaguely knew that Zara Home existed, but since they don’t carry the products in New York stores, the line had since slipped my mind — until now.

Their Sale Section is unreal – $3 plates and $2 glasses and $7 platters and $25 duvet covers… it’s a DIY-on-a-budget home decorators dream come true. Ohhh… and there is free shipping {and returns!}.

You’re welcome! 😉

Ladder Bookshelf {DIY}

October 30th, 2013 § 3 comments § permalink

I’ve mentioned before that our New York apartment is teeny-tiny {but, I walk to work, sooo worth it}, and I’ve honestly had a lot of fun decorating. It’s been an interesting journey to find new ways to save space, add a dash of chicness, and still have furniture that’s practical in our small home.

I found this ladder over the summer on the street, after someone in my neighborhood put it out with the trash. My brother carried it home for me, and I instantly put it to work as a space-saving bookshelf.  I loved the idea – but the wood was a bit bland in color and dirty from use. So I invested some of my tip $$ towards buying a small, bright pot of paint, and went to work.  Here’s what it looked like before:
