Bath Linens {Small Spaces}

January 24th, 2014 § 1 comment § permalink

I recently read a post on A Cup of Jo where Erin Boyle shared her tips for living in a small space {a 240-square-foot studio, to be exact}.  One tip she recommended was to use quick-drying towels in the bathroom, to save space and cut down drying time:

“We’re linen towel converts. Our tiny bathroom doesn’t get much ventilation, but linen towels dry so quickly that there’s no musty smell to contend with.”

In our tiny bathroom, I imagine converting to linen towels could be an absolute godsend – they’d be pretty, useful, and stay fresh/dry for far longer than our current towel collection {which is mismatched and takes at least two full cycles in the dryer to dry out}.  I’m considering these {above} or these for example.

Has anyone out there tried linen towels and loved them? Are they hard to get used to?  Please share any tips you may have, so I can convince Josh this is the right move for us 😉

Winter {Details}

December 16th, 2013 § 1 comment § permalink

New York City is so quiet in the winter.  Even as the city fills with tourists, and every shop seems to be overflowing with bustling guests, I can’t help but feel the quiet.  I feel calm, solitary, cozy.  Once snow begins to fall, I suddenly no longer feel the pressure of having a million things to do {even though I actually have a million things to do}.  I suppose I find it easier to work during the cold… cozy with a fleece blanket around my legs, a mug of warm apple cider by my side. I feel productive, and at peace.

I’ve been working 55 hour weeks for the past few months {hence my bit of silence here on the blog}, but I’ve still fit in so many wonderful adventures.  Hilarious post-mimosa brunch karaoke sessions, a handful of amazing performances {La Soirée and The Book of Mormon were two favorites}, happy hour with friends toasting ‘jobs that pay the rent’ and even a growing pattern of work-out sessions at New York Sports Club.

Though I won’t have the chance to go home this Christmas, I feel so blessed knowing so many amazing people in the city that I can spend the holidays with.  I may be alone in New York City, but I never feel alone… and that makes all the difference.

Lots of love darlings! xo

{Kindness Project} alice + olivia

On Wednesday evening, I had the opportunity to attend an amazing event held by alice + olivia.  Brand founder Stacey Bendet and artist David Choe collaborated to create dress adorned with Choe’s “A Woman and a Monkey” painting.  The piece has become the global symbol of alice + olivia’s “Kindness Project” – an effort to spread a message of love, kindness and positivity.  It was a stunning gown, and made a perfect centerpiece for the dance floor:

Zara Home {Decor Crush}

November 1st, 2013 § 0 comments § permalink

I vaguely knew that Zara Home existed, but since they don’t carry the products in New York stores, the line had since slipped my mind — until now.

Their Sale Section is unreal – $3 plates and $2 glasses and $7 platters and $25 duvet covers… it’s a DIY-on-a-budget home decorators dream come true. Ohhh… and there is free shipping {and returns!}.

You’re welcome! 😉
